I mentioned in the blog before that I am a proud owner of a mixed breed dog (a jindo-mix), One rescue cat from China, and two more rescue cats from Korea. Well, turns out finding a partner who is open to having so many pets in the house- getting married to someone like that- and planning babies with so many pets around is totally different.
Me and my future spouse are quite opposed to puppy mills, abandoning pets, and people who don’t take proper care of their pets. We promised each other that each pet is a commitment, and until the day they die- we will take care of them as their owner and guardian.
Well, our parents don’t quite understand how that works. For some reason, they believe that it is almost impossible for pets and babies to live together- pets are dangerous, dirty, uncomfortable, and busy…. But also, isn’t that the same with a baby anyway?
So now, we are just hoping that when we are blessed with a child we find a way to keep our parents off our back about letting the pets go- and that the baby isn’t allergic to cats or dogs. I did hear that most allergies to pets are caused by saliva or urine, so maybe their fur won’t be such a big deal.
If by any chance you are reading this and have similar experiences about people around you being critical of having pets and also wanting kids- leave me a comment would you?
