So, my dog is pretty well trained. Potty training, great recall, dog and kid friendly, doesn’t bark (at all), and is pretty obedient. But she does pull on the leash a little, which isn’t an issue normally.

However, with me and my spouse preparing to have kids… I thought it would be good for her to learn “heel.”

So I went online and ordered a gentle leader, and when I got it the next day my husband asked:

“What if people think she bites? She’s not a bad dog”

At the time, I dismissed the idea because she doesn’t show any signs of hostility whatsoever.

Today, while training/walking her around our neighborhood a man comes up to us and says to his dog:

“OH MY GOD, let’s go. That dog must BITE”

I immediately told him “SHE DOESN’T BITE, It’s a training leash”

“Then WHY DOES SHE HAVE A MUZZLE?” he asks.

I tried to explain that it’s different from a muzzle and that it’s for obedience training… but he seemed like he couldn’t care less.

It’s bugging me so bad because I want to keep trying new training ideas with her..! but I don’t like the feeling of others assuming she’s dangerous.

Any ideas?
